Dirt2Dollars vs Lead Generation Companies: What's the Difference?

Most contractors ask us how we compare to lead generation companies. The honest answer is that we are selling a different product, not a better version of the same one.
What a lead generation company sells
A contact. A name, a phone number, sometimes a zip code and a note about the project.
What happens next is entirely on you. You call. You leave a voicemail. You call again. Maybe you reach them on the third attempt, four hours later, and they have already scheduled with someone else.
On most marketplace platforms, that same contact was sold to three or four other contractors at the same time. You are racing them to the phone and then competing on price with whoever else got through.
What Dirt2Dollars sells
A confirmed time on your calendar with a property owner who has a real project.
The steps in between are ours. We run the advertising. We capture the inquiry. Our in-house call center contacts that person within minutes, with a live human, and has a real conversation about the property, the scope, the timeline, and whether they are the decision maker. If they qualify against the criteria you set, we book them onto your calendar and confirm the appointment.
You get the estimate. Not the phone number.
Why the difference matters more than it sounds
Because the gap between an inquiry and a scheduled estimate is where almost all contractor marketing money disappears.
A contractor on a machine cannot answer a phone. By the time you check your messages at six in the evening, the property owner has talked to two other operators. The inquiry was never the problem. The follow-up was.
Speed to contact is the single largest variable we have measured in this industry. Nothing else comes close. A contact reached in three minutes and the same contact reached in three hours are not the same asset.
Exclusivity
We do not resell opportunities. What we generate for you is yours.
Marketplace models work the opposite way by design. Selling the same submission to multiple contractors is the business model, not a flaw in it. That is why marketplace close rates sit where they do.
What you pay for
With a lead generation company, you pay for volume and absorb the conversion risk yourself.
With us, you fund advertising in your market and pay for a system that carries the inquiry all the way to a booked appointment. Our flagship program guarantees thirty qualified on-site appointments over the term. If we come up short, we keep working at no additional program cost until we deliver.
No lead generation company guarantees appointments, because they do not control the step that produces them.
When a lead generation company is the better call
If you have someone in your office whose actual job is answering inquiries within minutes and booking estimates, you may not need us. Buy the volume and let your person convert it.
If you are brand new with no budget and you just need something in the pipeline this week, marketplaces have a low barrier to entry. It is expensive per closed job, but it is fast.
If you cannot get off the machine to run estimates during business hours, neither model works for you. Fix that first.
What the results look like
Across more than 250 contractors, we have delivered over one hundred million dollars in on-site estimates.
Brian closed five jobs his first week. Dave and Tyson closed over forty five jobs in three months. Chris Collins of Chris Collins Clearing landed a seven acre job off a single appointment. An excavation contractor closed one hundred forty thousand dollars in work on thirty five dollars a day in ad spend.
The short version
Lead generation companies sell you contacts and leave the hard part to you. We sell you estimates and do the hard part ourselves.
